4 dollars per adult....hadnt sen anyone mention that. Liked what I saw. Went to the south entrance and drove the paved roads.... had little kids with (one infant) so hiking was out....and banned that day anyways for hunting. Lots of picnic shelters with grills. The lake is currently low I believe. Lots of rain needed to fix that. Still saw waterfowl. Saw the bison too, didn't know they ranged this far south (even if just historically, as these aren't free range ). We left heading north and did notice that all the gates for the north entrance were closed during hours they should be open. Wouldn't Jane had time to see the north side today, but that was a dissapointment. Worth checking out if you live within a few hours or are passing through. I wouldn't think of it a destination though.

I like this park for the fact that it is so close to the city and I get to enter free whenever I please, allowing me to use my Texas State Park ID to its full potential. I must add "whenever I please" is more of a "whenever I wish to go and find the park gate actually open", which it isn't after 6pm, sometimes even 5pm despite the fact the website says otherwise. However, I have noticed others biking or just going for a jog who simply do not care about the gate, park their cars outside and walk right in... So I guess that's OK? IDK... In summary, its a nice park to have around, I enjoy whatever little time I get to spend there, I have managed to spot myself a couple of fox and a few armadillos, the long horns look underfed. I have yet to spot a bison, which the park claims they have. The park's care takers do a good job of keeping the park in check IMO, and are very humble and polite.

Great park and very nice staff. Beautiful views and nice nature trails to hike. The buffalo and longhorn herd were nice to view. Next time we wound kayak the lake and hike more of their trails.

There's a lot to see here, but I get lost every time and end up on cow trails in the middle of the park. Things aren't marked in person as they are on maps (like some trailheads), so sometimes you can be where you want to be and not even realize it. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

We love this campground. Beautiful, peaceful, water and trails. We will be returning very soon.
