I prefer PetSmart over Petco... I find this store to be much better in price and selection for fish supplies! We also use the grooming salon for our border collie. Friendly staff, reasonable prices!
My dog was a mess, tangles, stuff caught in his fur. They had to shave him but they got him cleaned up & he looks great. The groomer caught me on the way out the door & told me to check for worms because there looked like dead ones in his poop. That really shows caring for the animals.
Store is very cramped with stuff. Some of the dog food shelves were empty. I was able to find some food though. And when the line was long someone came up and opened another register so we didn't have to wait.
I give 1 star because they don't take less. I took my THIN coated St. Bernard in for a bath because my own back has gotten to be horrific and because it is too cool outdoors to give her the monthly bath Ì give to her. I am a former dog groomer, and my Saint gets blown out with powerful livestock blower 2 to 4 times a week. She is completely brushed out every day during shedding season, and every other day when it's not. Thus, when I took her in to be groomed this morning, she was NOT the typical "dog needing a bath". When I picked her up almost 7 hrs later, she was still wet around her neck, anal gland never expressed, and was NOT completely brushed out. Was told that she didn't like the dryer. Really? She is blown out regularly and without a problem. I was told it was EXTRA to brush her out like she needed. And it's EXTRA to have the anal gland expressed. It's pretty pointless to bathe a dog and it goes home stinking because a BASIC step in PROPPER and FAIR grooming was skipped. It's EXTRA to simply cut the hair with a scissors around the feet and under the feet. I was TRAINED by a professional to BE professional. And I was ripped off by others who claim to care about your pets. WRONG! These "extras" take only a couple of seconds more to do, except for the proper brushing WHILE the dog is almost dry. Don't know about the rest of you, but I don't like trusting someone to do what is basic, plus not getting that done. I suggest you check out a really GREAT groomer you are still lucky to have in San Angelo. The Gingham Dog. Cindy Cook is who you want. She's a groomer from the old school, like me.Especially if you have poodles.
