Really rude waitstaff. Waitress accosted us for not telling one of our arriving friends that she had lint on her back before she even sat down. We had no idea she had any lint on her or why the waitress was so mad about it.
Excellent food and very friendly staff! We ordered the surf and turf plate, poor boy sandwich, deep fried mushrooms and jalapeno poppers! The catfish and brisket had a delicious strong smokey flavor and the breading on the catfish was super tasty! The poor boy sandwich and mushrooms were great and the poppers were excellent! Great flavor on everything and reasonably priced! We ordered it for pick up and it was ready within 20 minutes. We will definitely be going again!
Too bad they can't be given a zero. The ribs and catfish were maybe a 2 or 3. The brisket was a negative 5. Worst I've had any where in the country, and definitely worst in Texas. Come on man!!! It was closer to jerky, seriously. Rock hard edges. I was stumped.... Still 2 days later writing this, our group is perplexed. Never again, too many good choices.
Something that stands out fairly starkly in San Angelo is the lack of good places to get barbeque, especially without breaking the bank. I've taken my family and out of town visitors to eat here a few times because it's among the best bbq places in town. Unfortunately that's not saying much. My last visit I received some fries, beans, and three pork ribs for which I paid about 13 or 14 dollars. I was so disappointed in the ribs that the next week I smoked my own. I made three racks of pork ribs. I paid about $30 for the ribs $5 for the dry rub and $15 for propane. Granted I already had the gas grill and a few other kitchen items but overall I spent about $50 to make three full racks. Given economies of scale I can presume that packsaddle can do it way cheaper than I can. So if it costs me less than a dollar a rib to make them myself, and mine were way better, how can packsaddle charge $3-4 per rib? Sure there's the time and convenience involved but my goodness.
We drove all the way out here from Dallas and had the best BBQ in TX. The waitress was very nice and welcoming. We didn't have to wait much for our food, which was a plus. The BBQ sause was real good. Overall, I would highly recommend Packsaddle Bar-B-Que.
